The Lord’s Supper

Something occurred to me last Sunday in Bible class as I was planning the thoughts for the Lord’s supper. While Rom 8:28-29 says that in all things God works for the good of those who love him. The weekly remebrance of our Lord’s death at the Lord’s table should serve as a vivid reminder of how God worked out the singular most terrible, painful thing ever to something exceedingly good. Namely, without the rending of the Holy family on the cross, we could have never become adopted into that same family today. Neat.

You know how women (some, not all) often share a bond with Mary, having given birth…the hopes, fears, dreams, and prayers for your child never, ever cease. I’ve never thought of Joseph. But now, through our adoption, I can perhaps relate a bit more to him, as a person. Because Joseph assumed the role of Jesus’ father for all intents and purposes…participating in his naming, protecting him from danger, teaching him a trade.
