Tuesday and Wednesday

Since we crammed everything into Monday’s schedule, we’ve basically been free to roam the rest of the time. Of course, that sounds a lot more exciting than it really is because Guangzhou isn’t really my idea of a tourist destination. It really doesn’t take long before all of the trinkets start to look alike especially since they had the exact same ones in every shop around Hong Kong as well. Needless to say, We are *ready* to come home.

Wendy and I have explored every nook and cranny of Shamian Island so far, and we hope to cross the bridge over to Guangzhou proper at least once before departing. It’s raining at the moment, so we’ve held off on those plans for the time being. The truth is that if we don’t make it, well it’s not going to be a big loss either way.

Betsy has really started to come out of her shell a little bit (she’s causing havoc in the coffee shop as I type :-) ). The orphanage named her well after all because she really is a happy little girl. The flip side of the emergence is that she’s now feeling her oats a bit as well. She’ll definitely let us know when we do something wrong. She’s gaining the reputation as the loudest baby of the pack (mostly with her laughing, but occasionally with her crying as well.)

We took a walk around yesterday after lunch and ran across a bunch of folks taking ballroom dancing lessons in one of the parks. That was really sort of neat and unexpected. What was expected was the folks doing tai chi in the park. Wendy and Betsy Ye joined right in.
